The number one regret of the dying (and how this is related to financing)

Do you know the number one regret of the dying? Yes, bear with me... this is highly applicable to financing.

The answer, as witnessed by Bronnie Ware, a palliative care nurse of many years, who was with people on their deathbeds for the last few weeks of their lives: I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

As per Bronnie Ware, this was the most common regret of all. When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and they had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.

And why am I bringing this up…? Because I am on the advisory committee of a company whose principals are clearly following their dreams. They are creating an interactive museum that displays Ontario in miniature. It’s such a joy to be part of that. Imagine doing something that makes you feel completely alive. Ahhhh…. Here, have a look for yourself what that can look like – I promise you’ll enjoy it (takes less than 3 minutes): http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/canada-s-biggest-city-in-miniature-take-a-look-at-a-scale-model-of-toronto-1.2416339

What dreams are you pursuing?

And if you need some help financing your dream, see the book I wrote: The Decision-Maker’s Guide to Long-Term Financing – available at www.guidetolongtermfinancing.com. Filling a gap in the corporate finance literature, this practical guide addresses all of the financing issues and options decision-makers typically face when raising equity or debt instruments. The book offers definitions of the terms used, bringing them to life by putting them in the context of real-world examples, and it peppers the pages with a wealth of insider tips.

P.S. Did you see my inspirational message entitled Vulnerability – Our Greatest Strength? By the way, I could have also called it How to Uncover the Life of Your Dreams. Here is the link on YouTube: http://youtu.be/k_Bfx9IOlkE
